On Saturday 10 September the Nursery celebrated the 75 years since the Poppleton Railway Nursery was first located in Poppleton.

City of York Lord Mayor Dave Taylor, accompanied by the Lady Mayoress and Sheriff Jonathan Tyler and the Sheriff's Lady, cut the celebratory cake. The cake was baked by the Nursery's chair Jo Sullivan-Jones. The Mayor and party toured the site using the Nursery's narrow gauge railway. The Nursery displayed its red carpet which had been used when the Nursery was in railway ownership for royal events, a recreation of a 1960s potting shed was recreated in the Nursery's Potting Shed. All members of the mayoral party agreed that the Nursery was one of the best visits they had undertaken.
